Caitlin Clark is one of the most competitive players in the WNBA, and her fire on the court has never been a secret. Clark got into it with Valkyries forward Janelle Salaun after a rebound play right before halftime, leading to a heated confrontation that required teammates from both sides to step in. What Clark apparently did not realize was that she had been handed a technical foul for it.
The Fever trailed by seven at the half but came back to take a 90-82 win, with Clark delivering 22 points and 9 assists in the process. A viral clip from the post-game press conference showed Clark visibly surprised when informed of the technical, drawing huge laughs online.
Caitlin Clark Receives Technical Foul, Finds Out at Presser After Fever Win
A fan account captured the moment and it spread quickly, with Clark appearing genuinely unaware she had been assessed the foul during the halftime altercation with Salaun. The reaction was pure Clark: all business during the game, no time to track the scoreboard of techs.
Both Clark and Salaun were assessed technical fouls for the altercation. Clark will be fined $500 under the new CBA, as it marks her second technical of the season. She now needs to be mindful going forward. At this point she already has two technical fouls through five games played, and per WNBA rules, eight technicals in one season results in an automatic one-game suspension.
Indiana improved to 4-2 with the win, their third straight, and will return to action Thursday for a road rematch against the Golden State Valkyries.
