The New York Giants are seeking to address their offensive needs before the 2026 NFL Draft and the next player who may attract attention from the team is the wide receiver Makai Lemon. According to reports, the Giants have called Makai Lemon for an official pre-draft visit. In case you missed it, the team and Lemon already had a meeting during the NFL Combine.
As mentioned earlier, Lemon recently made his presence known in the latest wide receiver rankings after having an outstanding year playing for the University of Southern California. In the past season, he caught 79 passes for 1,156 yards and scored 13 touchdowns en route to winning the prestigious Fred Biletnikoff Award as the best receiver in college football.
During interviews, Lemon did not try to hide his excitement regarding the opportunity of joining the Giants. In particular, he stated the following when asked about New York:
“It would be a huge blessing, they’re great players.”
The Giants currently possess the No. 5 overall selection in the upcoming NFL Draft. The team has been looking into various options to improve their offense, which is why the idea of drafting Lemon makes plenty of sense. As a result, a lot of people think that he will likely land on the Giants’ radar soon enough.
In terms of size, Lemon is relatively small for a top-tier receiver. He stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 192 pounds, which means that the former USC star does not fit the prototype of a traditional WR1. That being said, Lemon’s game translates immediately because of how effectively he manages to get open. All around the league, he has been compared to Amon-Ra St. Brown because of the way he wins in the slot, finds holes in zone coverage and gains yards after the catch.

Reasons Why Makai Lemon Will Make Sense for the New York Giants
The Giants‘ offense already has a young standout player in Malik Nabers. However, adding Lemon will allow the team to complement the aforementioned player by adding a receiver with a different set of skills. Unlike Nabers, Lemon excels when running routes underneath, working in the middle of the field and using his elusiveness to gain extra yardage.
All in all, pairing Nabers with Lemon should result in the emergence of one of the most exciting receiving tandems in the entire NFL. Of course, there is one thing that must be clarified – the question of whether the Giants are willing to select Lemon with the fifth overall pick.
Some scouts believe that drafting a slot specialist with such a high selection is too much. After all, there are plenty of signal-callers and pass rushers available in the upcoming NFL Draft, which is why moving down to pick eight or 15 seems like a logical step.
New York is not the only organization showing interest in Lemon. The Chiefs have already hosted the receiver for a pre-draft visit while he also plans to meet with the Jets, Dolphins and Commanders.
