Smith-Njigba and Witherspoon were selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft and are entering the fourth and final year of their rookie contracts, making them eligible for extensions this offseason. If an agreement is not reached, both players would remain under team control through their rookie deals.
Smith-Njigba is coming off a standout 2025 season in which he appeared in all 17 games for Seattle, catching 119 of 163 targets for 1,793 yards and 10 touchdowns. At just 23 years old, he has quickly emerged as one of the league’s premier young receivers, and appears poised to become the next $40m wideout in the league.
Before entering the NFL, Smith-Njigba starred at Ohio State, where he set school records for most receptions in a single game (15, achieved twice) and most receiving yards in a season (1,606 in 2021). He signed a four-year, $14,417,308 rookie contract that included a $7,485,316 signing bonus and carried a $3,931,993 cap hit for the 2025 season.
Witherspoon, the fifth overall pick in the 2023 draft, has also been a key contributor to Seattle’s defense. The 25-year-old appeared in 12 regular-season games in 2025, recording 72 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, one fumble recovery, and seven passes defended.
During the Seahawks’ successful 2025 campaign, Witherspoon totaled 23 passes defended across 17 games, including four during the postseason. He also recorded 74 solo tackles, 13 of which came in playoff games, along with three quarterback hits, further solidifying his status as a cornerstone of Seattle’s secondary, and positioning him for a top of the market deal, potentially between $25-$30 million average salary.

A Dominant Finish Caps Seahawks’ Championship Season
The Seattle Seahawks closed the 2025 regular season in dominant fashion, winning their final seven games to finish 14–3 before carrying that momentum into the postseason. The team’s defense steadily improved as the year progressed, delivering consistent, high-level performances across all three levels.
During their current 10-game winning streak, including the playoffs, only MVP Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams were able to generate sustained offense against Seattle. In the other eight games, the Seahawks limited opponents to an average of just 10 points per contest.
Seattle’s defensive excellence culminated on the sport’s biggest stage, as the unit suffocated the New England Patriots for three quarters in the Super Bowl. The Seahawks sacked quarterback Drake Maye six times and intercepted him twice, showcasing elite pass rush, disciplined coverage, and physical dominance throughout the game.
