LeBron James is not happy with the whistles, and he isn’t hiding it. After the Los Angeles Lakers dropped Game 2 to the Oklahoma City Thunder 125-107 on Friday night, James kept his postgame comments pointed and brief when asked about the officiating: “We’re down 2-0.”
LeBron finished with 23 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals in Game 2, drawing just 4 free throw attempts. Head coach JJ Redick, who has been vocal in the past about LeBron getting fewer calls than his driving frequency deserves, was asked about it and offered a pointed non-answer: “I don’t know.” Redick has previously said that LeBron has “the worst whistle of any star player I’ve ever seen,” and his silence Friday spoke volumes.

The Lakers now face an 0-2 deficit in the Western Conference Semifinals, the same hole they had to dig out of against the Houston Rockets in Round 1 before rallying to win that series in seven games. OKC, the No. 1 seed, shot 26 free throws to the Lakers’ 21 in Game 2 and dominated the second half, outscoring LA 68-49 after halftime.
Game 3 shifts to Los Angeles, giving the Lakers a chance to flip the script in front of their home crowd. Tip-off is Sunday, May 10 at 6:00 AM IST.
