Injuries have followed Thomas Bryant throughout his time in Cleveland. The 28-year-old center missed the final four regular-season games with a left calf strain and was sidelined through the first two games of the Cavaliers’ first-round series against Toronto before returning in Game 3. Now a new concern has emerged at the worst possible time.
In his most recent action against the Pistons, Bryant logged 15 minutes off the bench, finishing with seven points, four rebounds, one block and one steal. He has been a reliable depth piece for Cleveland whenever called upon, averaging 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 12.6 minutes over his last six contests.
The Cavaliers currently trail the series 2-1, with Cleveland winning Game 3 by a score of 116-109. A win in Game 4 would even the series heading back to Detroit.
Thomas Bryant Listed Questionable For Game 4
Bryant has been downgraded to questionable for Monday’s Game 4 with a back injury. While he serves primarily as a backup option behind Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley, Mobley figures to be crucial in this series as the Cavaliers wall off the paint against a hard-nosed, aggressive Pistons team. Bryant’s absence would thin Cleveland’s frontcourt depth if he can’t go.
In Game 3, Donovan Mitchell led Cleveland with 35 points, four assists and 10 rebounds, while James Harden added 19 points and seven assists. The Cavaliers will need that same level of production from their stars to take care of home court without a reliable third big available.
Game 4 between the Pistons and Cavaliers tips off at 8:00 PM EDT on Monday at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
