James Harden came to Cleveland with a chance to rewrite his playoff legacy. Through two games against the Detroit Pistons, the narrative has only gotten worse.
Harden has been unable to repair his postseason reputation in this series. He managed just four turnovers and three baskets on 13 attempts in Game 2, finishing with 10 points and taking only two shots in the second half. The Cavaliers fell 107-97and now trail the series 0-2.
The performance added another entry to one of the ugliest statistical records in NBA history. Thursday marked Harden’s 20th playoff game shooting 25% or less on a minimum of 10 attempts, breaking a tie with Bob Cousy for the most such games in the shot-clock era (since 1954-55). Only 2 of his 10 points came after halftime.
James Harden finished Game 2 with 10 PTS on 3-of-13 shooting, including just 2 points in the 2nd half.

Cavaliers Face Elimination Threat Heading Into Game 3
Harden is 36 years old and hasn’t returned to the NBA Finals since 2011 with Oklahoma City. He had no appearances that far as a star, and this series, trailing 0-2, is quickly becoming another chapter in a difficult playoff story.
Cleveland coach Kenny Atkinson said he’s back to the drawing board after his team fell into a big hole once again. The Cavs are heavily dependent on Harden and Donovan Mitchell, and the supporting cast has not stepped up to compensate when either star struggles.
Had he not agreed to a midseason trade from the Clippers, Harden would not even be in this position. The move gave him a shot at redemption. So far, it hasn’t delivered one.
Game 3 tips off Friday night in Cleveland, where the Cavaliers will need a bounce-back performance from Harden just to keep their season alive.
